Blackwell Education, named after the late Elizabeth Blackwell who amongst a great other things was a pioneer and champion of social justice and equality, is a specialist educational setting that aims to offer alternative education for anyone who requires it no matter what their background or complex needs.
We base our understanding of challenging behaviour and disadvantage on the Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) model and work with students in a nurturing way to alleviate the effects of past trauma and negative experiences allowing access to learning. We also understand that all behaviour is a form of communication and look to treat each student as an individual who deserves our time, patience and care.

We provide educational support for students with wide ranging SEND’s. Our curriculum offers a broad range of subjects which are delivered at an ability-appropriate level for the individual. We also ensure that the teaching staff and management team assess the intent, implimentation and impact of their delivery to ensure effective individualised teaching is taking place.
Full reports of baseline testing, both academic and soft data, are provided to parents/carers/agencies, along with progress reports of each session and half term.
We offer educational and engagement packages for Looked After Children (LAC) either as additional support in/to a school setting or offering a bridging service for those students not accessing education due to changes in accommodation or other circumstances.
We understand that all students have their own individual hopes and asperations as well as stresses and anxieties. We promote a safe, caring and consistent environment that fosters a productive and honest ethos . Mental wellbeing needs are discussed and interventions implimented when neccessary. We also utilise specialist therapists who carry out emotional wellbeing and resiliency assessments which help track student progress in this area.
Engaging education provided in a familiar environment where individuals can start their journey back into a full-time setting
Vocational placements allow individuals to experience and engage in areas where they can foresee future working life
We understand that society as a whole benefits if every one has equitable opportunities and support. At Blackwell Education we are passionate about redressing any imbalance in support for students who need it most. Our approach is very nurture based to ensure positive behaviours develop and are developed in an educational setting and throughout all aspects of the young person's life. It is through this process that young people establish, maintain and develop support networks and coping strategies that may help them through into adulthood.
We also want to flip the narrative on students with additional needs from that of negativity and stigma to one of a celebration of diversity and value to society. We believe that by working together with families, support groups and outside agencies we can make a difference to the lives of young people in a positive and lasting way.
